Ho-hum, just another sunrise
Actually...it was a great pleasure being alive and present that morning.
I managed to haul my ass out of bed at 5 AM a couple of weeks ago while vacationing in RI. I was rewarded with an absolutely spectacular sunrise. While going through the photos, I was amazed at how much the color of the sky changed, almost second by second, especially right before and during actual sunrise, which I captured in a series. I took almost 300 shots and the colors in almost every one just about overwhelm me.
On a technical note, I never stopped down past f8 so I think some DOF clarity might be missing although I'm not even sure that is a bad thing here. In retrospect, I might have maintained a fast enough shutter while going up some stops but I was too enthralled to be thinking in those terms. Of course, my tripod could have been a great help too. Anyway, I still wanted to post dozens of shots, just because of the colors, but managed to come up with a somewhat select bunch of favorites.
First glimpse of what was to come. I knew I had lucked out on a good one.
