(149,715 posts)My husband and I were on a cruise around Iceland, and these were the skiffs used to get to shore, when there wasn't any dock. We had to have waterproof clothing and shoe covers, because we had to wade through a bit of surf!
It was pretty strenuous, but we had a great time.
So there you have it!
Agschmid
(28,749 posts)Seems like it would be a good cruise.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,715 posts)But omigod strenuous! We should have been in much better shape!

(31,405 posts)I looked back through my cruise photos several times for this contest. On our Baltic cruise this last
May our cabin was on the starboard side of the ship and the pilot boat came right
up next to the ship after we were out of Tallinn harbor and I was shooting away hoping
to catch the pilot hop from our cruise ship back to the pilot boat, but alas, I looked away at
just the wrong second to catch him making the jump. I would have loved to get that shot!
Can't you just imagine it? Here's the pilot boat next to the cruise ship

(149,715 posts)Even without that, though, this is still a fascinating photo.

(14,910 posts)This is my busy season...so unfortunately I wasn't able to shoot specifically for this theme so I went to the archives.
This photograph was from last fall where we had traveled out to Letchworth State Park (Grand Canyon of the East) on a socked in misty morning.
The trestle where this photograph was taken is nearly 250' high in it's center and on a clear autumn day offers some breathtaking views of the foliage.
At any rate...hope you enjoy!
Thanks for hosting, ohheckyeah!

It takes some time but worth the effort. Endless subtleties await those with some patience. I'm not even close to mastering it.
alfredo
(60,077 posts)color balance between blue or yellow. This month's entry went yellow with a light lomo filter to give it an early 20th century look.

(10,573 posts)What you're seeing are its contrails from a different perspective. Unfortunately, either photobucket or DU dumbed down the resolution, so you can't see the aircraft itself very well. The original is much better.
Agschmid
(28,749 posts)ohheckyeah
(9,314 posts)try Flickr....although I think they all change the resolution to 72dpi on the Internet, Flickr does a better job of keeping the color and looks better.

(19,379 posts)My daughter had just obtained her driver license and I let her drive home from a soccer tournament so she could get some freeway time. I took the opportunity to use my camera while driving, and got this shot while going down I-5 near Stockton. The human occupant was smiling as I took the shot, obviously pleased that her copilot caught my eye. It's not a particularly good technical photo, but I thought it fit the travel theme pretty well, and title (from the bumper sticker) seemed apropos. Glad you enjoyed it.
