Fallapalooza 2014

In my community we celebrate both fall and Halloween. The Fall festival is really just another celebration of Halloween with hayrides through scary mazes and train rides through spooky woods. The kids get treat bags and most of them wear costumes. Volunteers work all day preparing 3 kinds of Chili (one was "Zombie Free"- Vegetarian) and 3 kinds of Hobo Stew. There was also Frito Pie and various sweets and drinks. (water and juice, to be exact)

We went for the "Zombie Free" chili - very spicy - and the noodle free Hobo Stew. Both tasty.

I don't like asking people to take their photo. I'm very uncomfortable with it. Last night I gave it a try.

Here are a few. I'll probably bore you with more later.

She's giving me the look.

This is Uggsy. She was more than ready to have her picture taken.

I don't know what the Fairy Princess is telling Dorothy but Dorothy doesn't seem too impressed.

There were games and rides and things to climb on for the children. There was also face painting.

She did her own face painting!

Not sure if this cutie is a Spider Queen or what. I felt old and out of touch for not recognizing more costumes.

This little beauty wouldn't stand still for Daddy to get a shot. I snapped away.

The closest she got to posing.

I know what you mean about asking people if it's ok. Still, you did, and got some great shots.

Cute kids!

Frito Pie?

I do have shots of the volunteers opening small bags of Fritos and adding something like chili to the bag and then topping it with cheese.

Kids were eating straight from the bag.

Thanks!

I'm shy about taking people pictures, too, but sometimes I like to take my old 70-300 lens, which isn't as conspicuous as the 70-200, and do stealth shots. The pictures are always so much better when they're unposed, IMO.

I'll take stealth but I took the shorter lens to force myself to ask.

I did not like it. lol

if you could take their photo? I find that if there is something that I am uncomfortable about, if I have positive results, it makes it easier the next time I do it. Seems like there were people who were happy to have their pictures taken.

You got good photos, so I hope you can continue doing photos of people. I especially liked the first photo. Mom is beautiful in it and her daughter is adorable.

That first shot is especially nice.

I was hoping to bounce back quickly. Now each little advance helps to pull me through to another day.

Stay as upbeat as you can. Accept the low days because they are to be expected and give yourself permission to feel bad without feeling guilty.

I'm rooting for you!

The OT said there was a lot we can do and I'm fortunate enough to have a TENS unit that also has muscle stimulation settings on it. I feel encouraged about my arm and hand. I'm going to have to quit the baclofen (for muscle spasticity)though - it's making me dizzy and that's interrupting me therapy for walking.

I hope you are doing better!
