The one in the glass broke off from the bush a few days ago before it had opened at all, and I'm very pleased to see it open now (and spread it's fragrance ALL OVER!!!)

Now tell me again, do they smell good?

Don't like those scentless red valentine red roses.

I got this one, Mr. Lincoln, especially for its deep color AND scent. The bush is at my front door, so can smell it when I go out or in!

Today's the first day in a month that I haven't been at the cottage; left this morning for an overnight in DC suburb. Hope to return tomorrow.

Been raining, and looking forward to seeing how the 5 buds on Mr. Lincoln, and 6 buds on Alnwick, do when the sun returns. Having a party next Saturday, high school friends coming from all over, and I HOPE the blooms look good then.

slowly becoming accustomed to not being constantly on call (self employed for 40 years)
I'm weight training, busy as a bee with things I never had time for, and looking around me helping some others.
For instance I realized this year my house has four outsides that could use plants, love and embellishment.
So, I know what you mean, these are golden moments, and every one I have I am grateful for.

The party for you sounds great!
I hope along with you for good weather and blossoms and color. Take pictures!

line up the group at the shore we all know so well, at sunset.
Seriously - the photo folks would love it and smile.

One of my classmates, a great photographer who does LOTS of nature stuff, is unable to attend. I haven't been heavy handed with anyone's inability (I'm in southern MD, high school is in Long Island, NY, and classsmates are ALL OVER the place,) but am VERY disappointed he won't be here to help record the event.

and you will be a great stand in.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Groups are not easy to take great photos of.
Anticipate, prepare, and enjoy!

more concerned about the weather! Forecast has varied hugely, from thunderstorms 80% to morning rain to partly cloudy. NOW it says the high will be 90 degrees, so hope I can keep everyone hydrated! (Party from 2 - sunset.)
