Related: About this forumThis is something I haven't done in a while.
Last week on my way to Lake Berryessa, I passed a sign that said Gymkhana next Sunday. So that's what I did today. Just to be clear, I was shooting horses rather than riding them. They start them out young. This was the lead class. In other words someone lead the horse while the rider hung on for dear life.
Last year's prizes were sported.
Some people from San Jose brought their Percheron (my best guess) ponies and riders.
Wind resistance with all the feathers seem to slow these guys down on the barrel racing, but they did like to prance.
Most of the riders were pretty inexperienced, or at least the horses were, but there was some action in the advanced classes.

(20,886 posts)I haven't been to a gymkhana since my LA days. I've driven past this little arena many time but this is the first time I've seen any events there. They have another gymkhana in July. I'm going to try to get there for that one.
