Related: About this forum****SUMMER Seasonal Photo Contest Comments****
Let me explain why I'm hosting this contest. Our winner, NV Whino from the Spring Seasonal Contest--which I hosted--is no longer
participating on DU. Although I tried to get in touch with the 2nd place winner, astral, I have not had a response from her to see if
she'd like to host the contest. Our 3rd place winner for Spring was none other than Tom Kitten--who just hosted August--and when I found
out he'd had a birthday (which I'm not supposed to mention! ) I thought it would be nice to give him a birthday present by hosting this contest so
he wouldn't have to go back to back on hosting!
So, please post comments, questions about the contest in this thread.

(90,785 posts)you travel through country where you would never expect to find a hidden treasure, but you do.
A lot of great places in Louisiana are like that. In the most unexpected of cities and towns.
I freaking love that flower shot.

(60,075 posts)This is an old town, founded in 1775.
We have some good examples of federal style architecture in town, and mossy walled gardens accompanying those houses. The oldest neighborhood, south hill, was desegregated. Wealthy and middle class African Americans lived side by side with whites.
Thanks I am happy with that photo.

All I did was blow it up a bit, select an area that 'felt' right, sharpened the blow up a bit and added a little blue overlay. It looked great without any color overlay btw. I almost posted it that way but when I added the blue overlay it made those background pastels jump out nicely.
I've shot film for decades but I am fully novice about all this digital stuff, I confess I am grinning ear to ear over how this shot turned out.
Thank you again for the compliment alfredo.
