First post here. Bought a Canon 550D (T2i in the US, I believe) and getting back into photography. This time in digital.
But a question I'm sure many of you have already faced...
I've got a ton of 35mm colour negatives I'd like to convert to digital. I've looked at some reviews on Amazon. And I've learnt a lot. But I thought I'd ask for people's experiences on DU. I don't want to pay big money (say up to $200). Speed isn't important (I'll just take the tortoise for a walk), quality more so.
So, have any of you had good/bad experiences?
Many thanks.

(2,560 posts)The Nikon Coolscans are all in the $1000s. I'll seek a cheaper alternative.
But thanks for getting back to me. Much appreciated.
I think I only paid a couple of hundred for mine.

(36,827 posts)I haven't used it in quite a while. I suspect there's plenty of them available on ebay because a lot of people buy them to use for one project.
One option to consider is having them done professionally. Scanning slides yourself is very time consuming, especially if you have to do color correction or any other post processing. The file sizes from good scanners are very large.

(2,560 posts)I was thinking about a "mass" conversion and colour processing the ones I really wanted.
I think you're right about ebay. Once I've done my once only conversion, I'll have a scanner I probably won't use again.
Food for thought.
Thanks for your response.
