Better late than not at all, I hope: Come with me to stalk the lions

Apologies for

PHOTOBUCKET: it's acting up, sorry

MY TARDINESS: lots of reasons. Not all of them good, but they are all good excuses

THE QUALITY: when we drove into the first safari park - at the entrance gate - my camera lens broke. These are my iphone photos and I'm lousy at that. I must say I was able to make an adjustment of attitude and was able to tell myself I was here to SEE, not to PHOTOGRAPH.
Which was helped, and made me laugh out loud, when one of the first admonishments from our guide, the ranger was: There is no photography allowed.

Now you know enough and I hope you like what you see. My memories of what I brought with me from stalking the lions.
One more thing, the lioness began to lie in wait for the wildebeests to take down one for their food for the week. A lion family hunts once a week I learned, and the lioness makes the kill and runs the show. The lion does what he is told to do.
I watched a zebra and a number of giraffes go into high alert. It was a very scary to us as well, even though we were safe on our vehicle and with a trained armed ranger. I heard one of the wildebeests lost his/her life. They are the size of cows, and made a huddle of a tight group, hoping to avoid a death.

I think the second photo is a fine camouflage shot. Look for the hidden lion.

I think you did really well, especially considering the conditions you were laboring under!

These are fine photos, and what do they mean, NO photos?

Thanks for taking us along!

What do people go for? To take pictures to do what I did: brag with them.
That of course leaves the low lifes who go there to kill and have their own picture taken with their dead prey.
I stayed at one place for one night where I realized this was going on from seeing those pictures in a book along with the unspeakably high prices killing an animal command.

I left from there to a preservation safari place where none of this takes place. The animals, though still totally in the wild, seemed calmer.

The people in the photographs, I'm sorry to report but not surprised, to the last man and woman looked like "deplorables".

I guess "deplorables" travel too. I am not surprised either.

Welcome Home!

and their trips to kill animals in Africa. Right?

Where I stayed in the second place 2 women in a jeep were doing nothing but keep in cell phone contact following the two Rhinos on that 5000 acre place. A night team and a day team. Rhino hunters swoop down with helicopters - slay the animal - and take the horn. It's more valuable than gold. I met them. They take it very seriously.

How awful.

Rhinos are endangered. Don't they know that? They must not care.

It's sickening.

did not kill Rhinos. They did it to lions and other wild creatures. NOBODY can buy a rhino from anyone than an illegal poacher.

my family and new grandchild waited for me (born the day before I left)
and friends wanted me to show me photos on my TV screen and I had to get them ready
my car got stolen and vandalized, insurance handled it all, but I had to do the running and lining up the repairs so I would have a few bucks left over for my trouble.
I love you, too, and thank you for caring to miss me.

I thought you would need time to decompress and spend time with the new grand-baby.

I felt guilty about not emailing but I also worried about emailing too soon. Sorry!
