The moon reflects the sun's light. It has no internal light source of its own.

Thanks for sharing! If you don’t mind, could you share the setup you used to capture such an amazing pic??

I used the same equipment I always use: my Nikon D3200 with the Tamron zoom 16--300mm. ALL the way out I might add!

I did use my tripod and I tried to use my cable release, but it wouldn't work. So I pressed the shutter button and hoped for the best. The camera was set in manual. I don't remember what settings, though.

Hope that helps!

I’m the ametuer of all ametuers when it comes to photography, but I do love it and my daughter has the eye for capturing photos that I lack, at least from a skill perspective. She has a very nice set up, a canon rebel, with all the lenses and accessories she would ever need, but she is frustrated by her night photos, the soul of an astronaut that she is...I appreciate you sharing and will pass it along!

It might just be easier to imagine yours, only with a buncha clouds blocking it.

Nice photo!

A few clouds can add interest...but too many block the view.

I'm glad you enjoyed my photo!

You might ask at your local camera store about lessons. I had two lessons before the eclipse, and they made it possible for me to get my photos.

Not cheap, but I found the lesson invaluable.
