(59,584 posts)1. Coolness - we were just there in September - LOVE Romania!
When did you visit?

(19,459 posts)2. We were there in 2005.
The young Romanian woman who acted as our interpreter ended up becoming a good friend. In 2010 we stayed a few days with her in Martigny, Switzerland, where she lives and works as a doctor. Saw her again this past September, when she joined us for a few days in Nice.
She even came here to California for my youngest daughters wedding a couple of years ago. Chance meeting is turning into a lifelong friendship.

Traveled there in 2012, visited Hunedoara, as well as the REAL Castle Drakula (A ruin in Wallachia).

it's a far cry from Herzog's "Nosferatu" which I watched again a few days ago. Also takes place in a castle in Transylvania.

Is akin to time travel.
