Sharing family slides and photos

Hi, tapping into this group’s collective experience for some ideas. My dad passed away this past Spring and my mom is starting to slip, and I’d like to take care of copying their many slides and photos to share with my sibs sooner rather than later. Dad loved photography and developed his own black and whites. They’ve got 4-5,000 35mm slides and maybe 2,000 photos of different sizes.

So I’d like to hand these over to a reputable company to make copies rather than doing it myself. I can sort through the photos to see what to copy (still looking for your best suggestions on companies for that, though!) but the slides are a different story. There are too many slides to cull through, but we only want to copy slides that have people in them. Many of his slides are of nature surroundings, and we want to save $ where we can. Is there a company with software that can distinguish and copy only slides that have people in them? Facial recognition software, maybe?

Thanks!

to do facial recognition sorting. I’d always prefer going local, so I’ll see if I can find anything out, just in case I don’t find any larger co.

Do you think your hubs may know of anything like that?

Thanks also for your kind words. I’m sorry about your mother in law... it’s never easy. The pictures keep the memories closer.
