Beautiful arc early this morning of the moon, Venus, Jupiter, and maybe Antares above Raleigh.

And just now as the horizon is lighting up with dawn

(86,791 posts)Jupiter is just coming over the horizon right now! Yesterday morning the moon was on the other side of Venus. Can't wait to see them again.
Nice picture!

(5,256 posts)And that *is* Antares - no maybe!
for confirming that!

(5,256 posts)It's a beautiful photo. Antares is pretty noticeably red or at least orange even to the naked eye, and the whole constellation of Scorpius is beautiful, bright, well-defined and actually looks like what it represents. So you were dead right. Jupiter and Venus (as well as Mars and Saturn) have been hanging around in the Virgo-Libra-Scorpius area for a while now.
You must be an early-bird! (with a camera!)

(31,404 posts)1 : the time from dusk to dawn when no sunlight is visible
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/night
So I stand by my post. The first shot was taken around 5:30 am before any sunlight was visible. When I edited the OP to add the photo taken at dawn, I also edited the OP title to reflect dawn.

(1,819 posts)And we appeared to have a different view yesterday
We saw planet - moon - plant almost in a straight line. It was incredible.
We were traveling and it was -15 so I didn't get a picture.
