and then the stillness of the eye of the storm. I recall once when I was a very little kid we were way out in the woods in a cabin, and my mother and I dashing down a path to the main lodge during the still of the eye to get some more supplies before it continued. It had changed direction and headed toward us when it was not supposed too. The best forecasting we had then was listening to the local radio.

Beautiful sunrise! I also recall my mom saying something like red sky at morn, sailors beware.

Something is up there, the light breeze here in eastern NC gave me pause, it seemed flippant , as it was out of several directions at once. I am paying attention and making some preparations.

My heart is so on edge for those in the Bahamas. It is unimaginable to be in the path of Dorian, and for the duration that is currently predicted.

I have seen video of tremendous flooding in the Bahamas. It's going to be an horrific mess.

That Georgia and the Carolinas would be affected. Just how much remains to be seen. That sure looks like a sailor's warning sky. And so pretty.

You might want to make sure you have everything you really need stocked up in case you lose power or something over the next few days.

We'll be thinking 'bout ya.

While there have been hurricanes that have ripped through the center of NC leaving a lot of devastation, it looks like Raleigh will not be affected by hurricane or tropical storm strength winds from Dorian. The coast may be a very different story.
