Sadly, it was gone an hour later.

2. Thank you! It looked like Mother Nature sprinkled powdered sugar on everything.

There was 'diamond dust' floating around too, but it didn't come out in the photo.

For those of you in warmer climes... when the temperature is cold enough, the humidity in the air crystalizes and drifts around, catching the sunlight and glittering like diamond dust.

It's really quite lovely but TBH, I'd rather look out my window and see gloriously green Palm trees.

3. Sometimes when there's diamond dust at night...

usually around -20F, all the lights outside look like beams of light aimed straight for the sky. I never saw that until I moved to a high elevation >6700ft. In a town it looks like colored shafts of light shining into the sky.

4. I've only seen them once and yes, the night was indeed deadly cold.

I'm in a rural area about 10 miles from the closest town and saw multi-colored beams of light shooting up... it looked like a fairytale city.

5. Yup

That's what I'm talking about! It's rare but sooooo cool, as you said, like a fairytale city.
