(38,601 posts)Thought by some to be caused by minor rumbles, sometimes portending a bigger quake.
Pretty though.

(31,388 posts)I have felt a couple of quick shakes. Nothing like California! I was a student at UCLA when the Sylmar quake hit in 1971. My roommate and I thought it was the end of the world and we were over the hills in Westwood, not in the San Fernando Valley.

(31,388 posts)My move is motivated by what I think is a paradigm shift in normal living brought about by the coronavirus. I think we're going to be masking and socially distancing for at least several more years. I, for one, am not going to be anxious to be first in line for a vaccine, and I know I'm not going to get the same immediate treatment that Trump has gotten if I catch it and I'm at high risk.
So, I'm trading my downtown living where I could walk to everything--the ballet, the symphony, the post office, terrific restaurants, the bank, etc--for a new house being built in a small development where half the land has been left untouched for conservation. I will have a small patio/courtyard area where I can be outside--with no one else around--and surround myself with plants, flowers, and a fountain. I don't expect to be traveling, either, in the next few years which was something I had been doing several times a year.
Still in the Triangle area of North Carolina and still in one of the few blue counties in NC.

(149,620 posts)Well, these are sure stunning. I know you'll miss them, and I hope your new home will compensate you in other ways. I hope there will be places you can photograph that will make you (and us) happy!
Thanks for sharing.

(31,388 posts)or at least they did this morning. Sometimes longer.
That leaves a lot of day/evening/night to experience other aspects of the beauty of nature. I do hope to spend a lot more time outside, especially in my little courtyard garden after it is planted in the spring. There will be access to a 22 mile walking/biking trail (The American Tobacco Trail) from the end of the cul de sac near my house. There is a gallery of photos here https://www.traillink.com/trail/american-tobacco-trail/ So, maybe there will be some subjects along there.
