Pricing on the Olympus 150-400 Pro zoom has been leaked.

$7500. Ouch! Even I can't justify that for my amateur kit. It looks like JIP is moving into the Canon/Nikon price point for top end optics. Can't say I'm surprised but darn it I sure wanted the piece of glass. I'd pay $4k for it but $7500 is just out of my price range.

Oh, well, I've still got the 300 f4 and 1.4x converter. I think I'll invest in the 40-150 f2.8 Pro instead. It's matched to the 1.4x and that will fill in the gap from the 12-100 and the 300.

Darn, just darn!

that have (almost) the reach and they are legendarily sharp. The issue is that they are prime (fixed focal length) lenses so to change the framing of a picture I have to take one lens off and switch it for another. When shooting wildlife that isn't always possible and moving back and fourth isn't an option either, particularly from a kayak.

I guess I'll just have to get better at what I do. Which you can see here: andyshanks.smugmug.com
