Survivor Philippines - The castaways are identified here, but no spoilers please
So we are back with another season of Survivor. The show will premiere on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 8pm Eastern. CBS will be airing a special 90-minute premiere episode. I love this new approach. They air the first episode with an extended time-slot. It gives us a little more time to get to know the players.
The "gimmicks" this season are the return of three former players who were removed from their previous seasons due to illness or injury and some "celeb" players. The returning players are Michael Skupin of The Australian Outback, Jonathan Penner of Cook Islands and Micronesia, and Russell Swan of Samoa.
The "celeb" players are former MLB player and 2000 National League MVP Jeff Kent and The Facts of Life star Lisa Whelchel (who played Blair Warner).
This season has another twist. It will be the first season since All-Stars to start with three tribes. I really did not like that set-up, so I am hoping that it does not last too long.
I am pulling for Penner, who is one of those annoying guys who I always have liked. Skupin was a favorite of mine his season. I still think that had he not been injured, his tribe would have walked through the game and we never would have seen Jerry, Tina, Colby and Chef Keith as long as we did. For the new players, I am pulling for Pete Yurkowski.
