How long will "The New Normal" last on NBC?

Mrs. Auggie and I like this show -- it's funny, moving, well-written and well-produced. But we don't think it has much of a chance given the stodgy nature of the U.S.A. It would much more at home on HBO.

Seemed to me they were setting everything up in the first two, and now they can sort of relax and get on with it. It's funny, and well-acted and written, but the problem, as you point out, is the stodginess because these two guys are real people who happen to be gay, none of this cartoonish caricatures like on Will and Grace or even Modern Family that makes straight people feel safe watching them. I just checked the ratings and they've dipped, so maybe HBO will be in its future.
