Anyone watching this show? We watched the premiere this week and really enjoyed it. They set up a complex plot and some compelling characters, especially the Mexican detective, Marco Ruiz, played by Demian Bircher, who grew up in Mexico City. (Bircher was nominated for an Oscar in 2012.) The female character, Det. Sonya Cross (played by Diane Kruger), is difficult to warm up to, but is nonetheless an interesting character (keep in mind that she has Asberger's and you'll get it<--not a spoiler, need to know). I think this show has great potential. Here's a review from Maureen Ryan:

If you missed the premiere, you can watch it online either at the FX website, or at Hulu. They both have the complete episode.
It airs at 10:00pm Easter/Pacific on Wednesdays.
Hope someone else is watching!

(1,695 posts)It is great. Nice setup, strong characters, interesting interaction between the two. Looks fantastic. I love it when I get sucked in right away. FX has a great record in our house for dramas, and we expect it to continue.

(4,544 posts)They give the showrunners a lot of freedom and it works. I don't care much for their comedies (except for Louie!), but their dramas are top-notch.

(4,544 posts)I was surprised when the hour was over. There are few shows that absorb my attention like that. Breaking Bad is one. This is another. Intense!

(28,257 posts)Who the hell was the guy doing the shooting in the trailer park? The other characters seemed familiar with him, but neither my wife nor I recognized him, and we've watched every episode.
FYI: I asked this question in another section of DU, got one "I don't know" response.

(4,544 posts)But his name had just come up in the investigation, and we, the audience (nor them), had never actually laid eyes on him until that scene where he starting shooting at them. I'm thinking it was his trailer that Sonya and Marco were searching as well. Is he the killer they are looking for? I am thinking he is not. He may be a copycat, or an associate of the mastermind, but I don't think he's THE guy they're looking for.

(28,257 posts)Pop-up characters on "The Bridge," incoherent dialogue on "The Killing," Don Draper's latest existential crisis on "Mad Men," etc. I watch 'em all, because they're good enough to be worth the effort.
Thanks for your informed response., it's greatly appreciated.

(7,720 posts)life kind of got in the way so I have not seen any of the following episodes. From reading this thread I suppose I should check into the OnDemand episodes since the weather this weekend for our area is supposed to be really hot and humid (upper 90s and dewpoints in the 70s.)
