New From Dusk Till Dawn series photos leave more questions than answers

Filmed here in Austin, and premiering as the first scripted original series to air on Robert Rodriguez's brand new El Rey Network, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series is set to go live with its one-hour premiere on March 11, at 8 pm. As for this adaption of the cult film hit from 1996, it's still unclear exactly what the small-screen version of From Dusk Till Dawn will deliver.

Two new images do give a glimpse of the major characters on the series: the violent, bank-robbing Gecko brothers and the deadly seductress Santanico Pandemonium.

D.J. Cotrona will fill in for the role of Seth Gecko, the calm leader of the bank-robbing duo (played by George Clooney in the film). Zane Holtz plays the more unpredictable brother, Richie, originally played by Quentin Tarantino, who also wrote the movie screenplay. Fans also get a peek at Eiza Gonzalez in the role of Santanico Pandemonium, in which Salma Hayek found earlier success.

The release of the teaser photos comes the same week that it was announced that the original film would receive the Star of Texas Award at the upcoming Texas Film Awards, with director Robert Rodriguez accepting the award in person. That makes it the perfect time to reflect on the legacy of the much-beloved cult classic and to muse about how the secretive series will shape up.

When I first heard they were going to try and turn this into a series, I thought... Dumb fucking idea. The more I see and read about though... I'm actually getting a bit excited about it. Check out the link above for a few pictures... And a few more here:

At the least, I think they have a good look going. This is now one of my most anticipated new shows.
