WGN America's 'Outsiders,' Coming Jan. 26, Explores Life Inside An Off-The-Grid Clan

WGN America’s upcoming drama Outsiders, debuting Jan. 26, pits mostly-off-the-grid Appalachian hill-people against a company that wants to mine the mountain the clan has occupied for generations. Down-mountain drama caused by the prospect of evicting the occupying extended Farrells family, as well as the rare Farrell interaction with on-the-gridders, is set against the tribal politics that play out up above.

It has something to do with mountain top removal for mining. A few years, back while traveling to Georgia, I saw this practice for the first time. I nearly cried. Anyway, it might be a good show, who knows.

I would describe it as Justified meets Sons of Anarchy meets Mad Max with a bit of magical realism tossed in, along with David Morse and Ryan Hurst. Interesting first episode! Made me want to know more.

and why are there always butterflies flitting around her? And what's up with Asa and those wolves? And why was the sheriff's kid out in the woods by himself and how'd he get those scratches on his forehead? There's more to this show than meets the casual viewer's eye, methinks.
