TUCSON - A one-man protest outside of a local charter school is critical that
it has no nurse on staff and he wants to change the law.
Adam Foster rarely leaves the sidewalk in front of Presidio School lately. He has
stood out there protesting for nine days in hopes of bringing attention to the
fact that the school has no nurse.
He is fearful for the safety of his daughter Breanna who is diabetic.
"That's why I stand out here, just in case she needs it," Adam said.
He stands outside all day with her Glucagon shot - which is to be used in
case of an emergency if her blood sugar level were to unexpectedly drop.

(111,367 posts)Now a school nurse has several schools assigned and only turns up during screening and to keep the paperwork straight.
Add to this the insane no tolerance policies that prevent kids from bringing their own life saving medication with them because there is no school nurse to park it with and it's a recipe for disaster.
I hope somebody listens to Mr. Foster. Their own kids might be at risk because some bureaucrat wants to do everything on the cheap. All our kids deserve better than that.
It's Arizona, though, so I'm not hopeful.

Really.
Ignorance is no excuse.

(8,292 posts)I have an autoimmune condition and the child has diabetes. She could fall into a coma if her blood sugar isn't regulated and you guys are jumping on him that he chose the charter school without a nurse? Really?
I'm new to AZ so if I knew where this school was, I'd join him and protest with him.
