The shoe thrower is from Phoenix

The woman who chucked a shoe at Hillary Clinton during a speech in Las Vegas has been identified as a Phoenix resident.
Police say 36-year-old Alison Michelle Ernst was the one who threw the shoe at Clinton, although Clinton was able to dodge it.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, she didn't give any explanation for what she'd done, and wasn't even supposed to be there to begin with -- she had apparently slipped past security at the event, which was hosted by a trade organization.

Maricopa County and state court records don't reveal any criminal history on Ernst, but she does have a fairly extensive history of traffic infractions, including multiple charges of driving on a suspended license.

Her address during her last run-in with traffic cops, back in 2010, was listed in Peoria.

1. I'd swear she was out there hoping to attract the attention of Pox Noise.

Probably thinks she has what it takes to be an "anchor" - blonde, dressed in skimpy clothing showing off her bare arms. What a way to get noticed, 'eh?

19. And it does help if you're a youngish blonde with slender arms and legs and

you wear skimpy arm-baring tops and tight skirts. That does seem to be the uniform all the females wear over there most of the time. Wonder if it was a stiletto she threw?

6. There's another woman with a very similar name

from Philadelphia who wanted the Aurora shooter released. I don't think it's the same woman. ??

4. Heads should roll for this

What if that had been an explosive? A shoe bomb if I may. But I'm serious, how could this happen?

8. Maybe they went through metal detectors so it wasn't detected

Or she could have taken off her own shoe and thrown it? But, I agree. It should never been able to happen.

10. Sad to say that there are too many nuts out there

If that would have been a hand grenade, Hillary would probably be dead. I worry about nuts putting poisoned needles in their hands and shake Obama's hand. That's all it takes. We heard horror stories in 2012 of how crowds outnumbered security, so they waved people in instead of checking them for weapons at rallies.

13. Yes, they weren't checking people too closely

at the Denver rally toward the end of the line. Couldn't bring in anything obvious of course, including food, purses etc, but they didn't pat people down. And apparently some of the "metal detectors" didn't work or were for show because metal objects got through unnoticed. I remember being more worried for him because the rally was out in the open and the rooftops in the area worried some people in the crowd.

15. It seems to be too lax

We have airports safer than rallies of world and possible world leaders. Hillary could have gotten killed if it had been an explosive. It never should have happened, at least in the US. Bush's toss and duck wasn't here in the US, so security measures could have been different. I know they can't be afraid of every stranger, but at times it must get to you. This woman brought in metal cleats.

16. Yikes, didn't know the cleats were metal.

So apparently no metal detectors at this event. Another poster said the woman was wearing flip flops in the photo she saw of her, which means the thrower carried in the Puma brand soccer cleat.

The Bush event was, as you said, a different scenario. The man had been wearing the shoe, it was soft, and in his culture throwing a shoe in disgust was an accepted form of political disagreement.

It's sounding now like mental problems may be behind the thrower's action.
