Well crap: David Garcia Finally Concedes to Diane Douglas in Schools Chief Race

Damn damn damn..... It's gonna be interesting, that's for sure. The only good that may come of this is getting rid of Common Core but I'm not holding my breath.

David Garcia Finally Concedes to Diane Douglas in Schools Chief Race

Nearly a week after polls closed, Democrat David Garcia has finally conceded to Republican Diane Douglas in the race for State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Garcia spent the week holding tight for a final ballot count, but conceded late yesterday night.

The Associated Press declared Douglas the winner on Sunday. Though thousands of votes have yet to be counted, Douglas has been consistently ahead of Garcia since the polls closed last Tuesday. She currently holds a 1.15 point lead, representing nearly 17,000 votes.

"With the way the numbers have trended, we do not see a path to victory," Garcia said in a press release. "I'm conceding the race and congratulating Diane Douglas on her win."

What does this mean? This makes the teachers who are politically aware nervous:

Douglas unqualified to be Arizona’s education chief

As long-time education advocates in Peoria and co-founders of Peoria United Parent Council in 2004, we have had long-term first-hand experience with Superintendent of Public Instruction candidate Diane Douglas.

We want to make this warning crystal-clear to voters: Diane Douglas does not even remotely have the skills to do the job.

Several years ago, before she ran for the Peoria Unified School District (PUSD) Governing Board, Diane was a member of our parent group. At the time, she seemed to be willing and able to make reasoned decisions and prepared to review all sides of an issue.

However, much to our chagrin and dismay, once she was elected to the PUSD Governing Board, an astonishing Jekyll-and-Hyde transformation took place. Her dangerous extremism, and overwhelming anti-public-education, anti-teacher agenda came rushing to the forefront. Her micromanaging of educators and overwhelming partisanship - in a non-partisan position - was so volatile and divisive that it became nearly impossible to get even the most mundane day-to-day business of the district done, let alone provide additional support to kids and teachers.

Don't they need a reason to recall? Clearly she isn't qualified but neither was Hup.

"She (Douglas) ran an underground campaign," he said. "Well, you can't be an underground superintendent. You're going to have to be above-board and tell people what it is you plan to do. Now she's going to be an elected official - where access to her schedules, her emails is public information. And, she can't hide anymore. And that's where if people want to judge her for her actions, and then maybe do what's constitutional, a recall effort - then they have some grounding to do it. I think, right now it's a little premature."
