Severely injured horse found in desert needs help to make it

By Christina Myers. CREATED Jan 1, 2015

MARANA (KGUN9-TV) - Wild Hearts Rescue Ranch Inc. needs help raising money for
a mare they rescued in the desert with a badly infected eye.

The horse was rescued Tuesday night after a man called authorities saying he had
spotted her in the desert off Sierrita Mountain Rd.

Wild Hearts owner Jessica Gray said she does not know if the horse's injury is a
result of animal cruelty. However, she said the horse had clearly been in someone's
care at least within the last six months, due to the way her mane had been trimmed for riding.

"By injury or illness this happened and somebody just turned her out because of it,"
said Gray. "We're pretty certain that's probably the case."
