Civil rights leader Dolores Huerta endorses Ann Kirkpatrick for U.S. Senate

Tempe, AZ – Civil and immigration rights leader Dolores Huerta endorsed Ann Kirkpatrick for the U.S. Senate today, praising Kirkpatrick’s unwavering support for comprehensive immigration reform, the DREAM Act, rebuilding our education system, and her commitment to fighting for all Arizona families.

“While John McCain has proved again and again that he will walk away from our community on important issues like comprehensive immigration reform when it’s no longer politically convenient, Ann Kirkpatrick has never wavered in our fight,” said Huerta. “She has long stood up for DREAMers, worked to improve access to education, and has been a fierce advocate for women and families. Ann Kirkpatrick has proven she is the kind of strong, principled leader Arizona and the Latino community deserve.”

“I am honored to have the support of Dolores Huerta, who has spent her life fighting on behalf of so many men, women, and children across our nation,” said Ann Kirkpatrick. “It’s time Arizona had new, principled leadership who will always put our state first.”

McCain has declared his support for Trump more than 60 times, recently said he’ll work “best” with Trump on immigration, and opposes DACA and DAPA. A recent Latino Decisions poll found 71 percent of Latinos in Arizona say they are less likely to vote for McCain because he supports Trump.
