Parkland survivor David Hogg tweet to John McCain draws mixed social media reactions

David Hogg, a survivor of the Feb. 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 people dead, has emerged as an outspoken advocate for stronger gun laws over the past few weeks.

Some may think he's too outspoken, judging from an overwhelming social-media response to a tweet he posted Friday questioning Arizona Sen. John McCain's relationship with the National Rifle Association.

"Why do you take so much money from the NRA?" Hogg asked in a Twitter thread about the Phoenix-area "Rio Reimagined" redevelopment project for the Salt River.

McCain is the top recipient of NRA money in Congress, according to an analysis by the Center for Responsive Politics. He has received more than $7.7 million from the organization during his political career.

...good way to make a point. I don't think David expects an answer and McCain would be wise to ignore the question. He would be wiser to state he regrets taking NRA money and wants no more... but that ship has sailed.

If difficult questions aren’t wanted, he could resign. It is a very fair question that he should answer, just not sure he will be shown the tweet.

"How much is in it for YOU, promoting this project?" He does nothing unless there is a large contribution to himself involved. Remember, he plays poker on his phone during sessions at "work". The hardest work he has ever done is trying to destroy President Obama, a man with more integrity than ol' Johnny ever had. He has been crooked from day one in office.

What if Hogg thought McCain is someone we can convert? Especially on the subject of campaign financing
