Pro-Trump and anti-fascist protesters clash in Pacific Beach

San Diego police have declared an unlawful gathering and are trying to disperse the crowd

About 100 Trump supporters and 100 counter-protesters, some of whom described themselves as anti-fascists, stood off with San Diego police for hours in the heart of Pacific Beach Saturday, with officers trying to keep the opposing groups apart following skirmishes.

The dueling demonstrations shut down Mission Boulevard near the Crystal Pier. Police declared the gathering “unlawful” and ordered the crowds to disperse about 2:30 p.m. The message was being aired over a police helicopter loudspeaker, and some people appeared to be slowly complying.

Police reported on Twitter that officers had been struck by a glass bottle. Rocks and eggs were also being thrown at police, and pepper spray was being deployed in their direction from the crowd, police said. They did not say who was responsible.

At one point, officers fired what appeared to be pepper ball rounds into the anti-fascist crowd during a confrontation.

Pro-Trump supporters apparently find "No Nazis in PB" offensive. Pretty much sums up who they are.
