Gov. Newsom plans to cancel California's COVID-19 stay-at-home orders

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday plans to lift regional stay-at-home orders across the state – allowing restaurants to resume outdoor dining amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report.

Sources briefed on the governor’s plans told the Los Angeles Times that all counties will return to a colored tier system that assigns local risk levels based on the number of cases and positivity rates.

Most counties will go into the “widespread” risk tier, which allows hair salons to provide limited services indoors but restricts many other nonessential indoor business operations.

Some elected officials and the restaurant industry have fought in and out of court to overturn the highly controversial outdoor dining ban, according to the newspaper.

It was not immediately clear whether the action will lead to easing of stay-at-home rules in Los Angeles County, which has emerged as the national epicenter of the outbreak, the newspaper reported.

2. The recall will be easily defeated if it makes it to a ballot.

The reason cited for lifting the ban is availability of ICU beds.

enough signatures yet to get it on the ballot, but if it makes it on the ballot, that is going to cost us 81 million to run a special election for the recall, and if the recall is successful, to run another election for Governor. That is what they did with Davis.

People tend to look for scapegoats, and unfortunately I am afraid that is the position Newsom is in.

I am glad that the ICU beds are becoming available, but from what I have read they are still pretty full, especially in Southern California. I guess something changed quickly

Anyway, thanks for the report

5. CA voters are in a much different position than we were when Davis was recalled.

Remember, we got stuck with Ah-nold, who was something of a disaster.

Ds run this state and the R minority keeps shrinking. Newsom is very popular among CA Ds and most non-conservative constituencies.

BTW - I won’t be surprised if Ah-nold makes public statements against a recall of Newsom.

6. Yes he was, and he left the state in financial distress, which Jerry Brown pulled us out of

I don't think Schwarzenegger will weigh in publicly on the recall one way or the other

I am just hoping they don't get enough signatures

He added 43 billion dollars to the state's debt. Much of that debt was retired by Jerry Brown, who left us with a budget surplus.

His main accomplishment was to erect a tent outside the state capitol building so he would have a place to smoke cigars.

Although state data show hospital systems in Southern California and the San Joaquin Valley remain strained, the Newsom administration told officials Sunday that models project ICU capacity in those areas will exceed 15% — a threshold for lifting the regional shutdowns — over the next four weeks.

And there are no penalties being imposed on those restaurants that continue to operate against the Governor's orders.

It enables them to both spread the virus, while claiming that the shutdown orders are ineffective.

and restrictions on businesses. What they are doing wrong is not enforcing the rules or penalizing anyone for breaking them. The are some areas, especially in Southern California, where compliance is very poor.
