it's a tourist trap I can't resist. In fact, San Francisco is one of the few cities in America where the tourist traps are actually worth visiting.

My kid had a big clear plastic cup full of squid tentacles, some kind of Cioppino as I recall, mostly squid being the catch of the day.

A big tour bus pulled up and disgorged a mob of tourists from the Midwest, plain vanilla U.S.A., all of them.

My kid held up the cup as if to toast them and then dramatically slurped down a tentacle.

The mob stopped. They stared. Some of them took pictures.

It was absolutely marvelous!
