Millions in Southern California must cut water use starting in June (Original Post) YoshidaYui Apr 2022 OP
Restrictions should begin NOW. There is no valid reason to wait until September 3Hotdogs Apr 2022 #1
September? This says 30% restriction goes into effect June 1. That's 1 month from now. hedda_foil Apr 2022 #2
S/B immediate. We've already backed off our sprinklers and are taking a hard look at our water use. kysrsoze Apr 2022 #3
Don't do fake turf. We did it and regret it. SunSeeker Apr 2022 #4

I'm really tempted to rip out our front lawn and go with a desert-type, drought-resistant setup. I'd really rather not do fake turf.

It's expensive. It acts like velcro, holding debris the wind blows onto it, and it develops weeds along the edges that are really hard to keep at bay. It gets super hot in the summer, to the point you can't walk on it in bare feet. And even the best fake turf looks cheap and fake, like it belongs in a trailer park. Thank God we only put it in the front yard, not the back yard.
