California Middle Class Tax Refund - DON'T THROW AWAY AS JUNK MAIL!
My wife and I just received in the mail yesterday, Monday Nov. 28, a piece of mail that looked like JUNK!
There is a VISA DEBIT CARD inside, you can feel it inside of the envelope.. has a Brown Bear and state seal on it. DON'T THROW IT AWAY !!
Validate the card by calling the 800 #
Our card is worth $ 700.00 and good through 04/26.

3. What gets me is that the state has my bank info, and they sent a card instead of a direct deposit &

it comes with a privacy statement (privacy?) stating that New York Community Bancorp Inc (apparently there are no banks in California!) can share my personal information.
• For our everyday business purposes, including responding to court orders and legal investigations, or to report to credit bureaus. WTF?
• For our marketing purposes - to offer our products and services to you (WTF?), and
• For joint marketing with other financial institutions (WTF and 3/4?)
WITH NO WAY TO OPT OUT.
Can you limit this sharing?

How the state engaged in such a shitshow is beyond my imagination.
I thought that limiting opt-out was against California Privacy Laws!
And by the way, thanks for the money.

reminding me to check the mail carefully for the debit card yet nothing has come.
Almost 2 years ago I did NOT get my $600+ CA refund. I could NOT get it back from the state even though it was "lost in the mail and never cashed/used". I even called H&R Block when I did my state taxes, hoping to take it out of my taxes as I was told it would be. WRONG. Even the tax masters checked around the staff and even though it is not fair that I can't get the missing $ the state will not allow anyone to get it back that way. I am so fucking pissed off and have been. I need every cent of my almost poverty level of income. I always pay my taxes and it is all on the state records so I am being royally ripped off, last year and now this year too, oh goodie!
I have literally spent hours waiting to speak with the state and they DO NOT answer the phone and if they do you are on hold and eventually get cut off. Hours and hours I waited to speak with a person (it worked with the Fed govt Covid relief when one of those debit cards never got to me) but not with CA. If you do not get a Covid payment TOUGH shit, says the state.
