Fresno CA Homeless Plea for help Need sleeping bags and blankets

A PLEA FOR HELP.

Over the past two, or three days, the Park Side Homeless People have been robbed of their personal property. Some lost every thing, including sleeping bags, blankets, clothing, ect.ect.

It is very cold sleeping outside at night, so we are asking the Advocates for help with replacing sleeping bags, blankets, and what ever clothing you can donate. Bring items to the McDonalds at 1718 W. Olive ave. One block west of Hwy. 99. Drop off any itenibhtsms at the bus stop across the. street from McDonalds, between 9:00 p.m. & 10:00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. Thank You.A PLEA FOR HELP.

I hope the jackass who did this is publicly exposed!! Criminal charges should be brought - this could amount to manslaughter.

catalogs (or used to, anyway) that they are Christians.

Other sources that might be worth calling are manufacturers of the items you need and local churches, temples, thrift shops, etc.

Another tactic: Google California message boards and post this plea there. See if any California OWS group is still active and willling to help (ala Sandy relief). Also, try calling the Governor, town council, etc. to see if they'll take any responsibility for their own citizens/residents.

I've given you a lot of "homework," but maybe you can try one or two of my suggestions and see if anything "crops up." And maybe you can get someone to help you.

Best wishes and thank you for doing this.

Occupy Fresno, churches, other social justice groups help.. they are out of Fresno Center for NonViolence.
there is a very hard working but small group of activists in Fresno.

The City of Fresno has been hostile and attacks the homeless. There is very little accountability for the crimes against human rights that the City of Fresno participates in. Mike has been reporting on it since 2002.
once on the link you can scroll down to 2014 and work your way back.

that plea was sent out to many groups and posted on facebook so I posted here incase people were in Fresno or coming through.

Mike Rhodes just posted an article from Tiny Homes.

There is a project in Fresno called the Dakota Eco Garden that is a variation of the theme in the Buzzfeed article (see link below). For more info about the Dakota Eco Garden, see: https://ecovillagefresno.wordpress.com/dakotaecogarden/

The people living and working at the Dakota Eco Garden are fortunate to have a safe and legal place to live. It is a sanctuary from sleeping on the sidewalk, the Fresno Rescue Mission, or tool sheds at the Poverello House.
Read the Buzzfeed article about Tiny Homes and then find out what you can do to get involved locally with the Dakota Eco Garden.
