in DC as a child.

They are blooming here too and we're to have 2 nights of hard freezes coming up. I've got my peach trees covered, but I fear that I'll lose plums and cherries (the first bloom year for that tree) and I'm hoping the apple tree won't begin its bloom for a few more days. Gardening in zone 7 is a chancy affair.

Saturday is supposed to be a mess with snow, ice, and just plain cold. I hope it doesn't mess things up too badly.

in Salem, Oregon.

Our cherry blossoms are in full bloom around the State Capitol, and it's absolutely gorgeous!

And they got to experience totality during last August's solar eclipse.

It was the anniversary of Roosevelt's death, so I went to that memorial too. Several high school tours were going through at the same time. There were gusts of 30 mph, give or take, so the petals were swirling.

The following quotations may be found in the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial:

....
"I see one-third of a nation ill-housed, ill-clad, ill-nourished." "The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little."
