Someone in town for Robert Trump's White House funeral punched a server at D.C.'s Fig & Olive

NEWS: I got a tip that someone in town for Robert Trump's White House funeral punched a server tonight at D.C.'s Fig & Olive restaurant. I called and an employee there confirmed it: "Somebody blindsided one of my servers. Clocked him right in the nose."

I'm told some in the group were still carrying funeral programs. The "unruly" group lashed out when the restaurant couldn't accommodate their large party. Employee: "It’s a pandemic, doing the best we can. Totally uncalled for." Employee says no "high-profile" Trump was involved.

The employee says he believes the server's nose is broken.
I asked if police were involved. Employee says they have security at City Center and he thought they were handling it with DC police. But neither security nor police did anything.

I can't find a news source for the story. The Daily Mail, which is click bait and gossip, quotes from these tweets.

In any case, this is hardly news of national interest.

NBC News itself is not running the story. It isn't at the usual DC-area sites yet either, but those writers are still just waking up.

The Daily Mail is no more than a click bait-laden news aggregator.

Thanks, and good morning.

How excruciating it must be to be around these clowns. I suppose it just rubs off and they don't realize how embarrassing it is to others.

I doubt he was arrested. He probably pleaded grief.

A member of a funeral party for President Trump’s late brother allegedly punched an employee at a D.C. restaurant Friday night.

NBC News White House correspondent Geoff Bennett tweeted that he confirmed the assault with an employee at the downtown restaurant, Fig & Olive.

“Somebody blindsided one of my servers,” Bennett quotes an employee as saying. “Clocked him right in the nose.”

DCist spoke with a representative of Fig & Olive who confirmed that an employee was punched in the nose last night. Another spokesperson for Fig & Olive also confirmed that an assault on an employee occurred. Both representatives said the guest in question had attended a funeral.

D.C. police say they had no reports indicating that police responded to an assault at Fig & Olive Friday night.
