Florida
Related: About this forumAnyone gotten one of the "caging list letters" or whatever they're called to challenge a voter?
I received a letter yesterday from Orange County stating that Florida law re: verifying of signatures for absentee balloting has changed.
I've only voted in FL three times (moved here in 2009) and all of those were in-person (one was early voting).
Not sure if this is standard for Orange County or am I being matched up with someone....

(14,337 posts)If it's a Florida law, then everyone in the state should get it. Right? I've been here since 2007 and only voted twice (President and Governor; both times in person and early voting.

(20,958 posts)at least, i don't think i have. haven't seen it in the piles of junk mail that come to the house. i've never voted by absentee ballot here, though.
i don't know what to think about this. Cowles is generally a good guy, and a friend of voters.
here's an article from the Sentinel on it:
http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-06-06/news/os-voter-signature-demand-20120606_1_absentee-ballots-absentee-voters-voter-registration-drives
"It does not affect their voting status at all," he said. "We just want to help make sure if they're going to vote by absentee, that their ballot will get counted properly."

(34,136 posts)That they are asking voters to update their signatures to make sure there are no problems. http://www.ocfelections.com/media_alerts/PressRelease.doc
You can check other information there, too. They have a place where you can double check that your voter registration is still valid. http://www.ocfelections.com/OrangeVotes2010/httpdocs/home_files/Voter_Query_Page.asp
Or you can call their office to see if that letter is from them: (407) 836-2070
