Florida
Related: About this forumfinally I can post! Need help with Florida general election ballot.
I joined DU about 10 years ago and it wonderful. I lived in Georgia and enjoyed the state level as well as national communication on political issues.
Been gone about 4 years as I moved from Georgia to Florida and changed voting and residency to Florida. (Side note: I went to college in Florida MANY years ago when I was a proud Young Republican and before the party went nuts and went down the road with Reagan, only to get worse since then). At present I am in Sarasota and the Republican party has a pretty powerful majority in this area. I see very few national candidate signs - a few Trump and Clinton - but that is it. Most signs are for local candidates which is encouraging to me that these people at least care about local races.
I need help with Florida issues. Right now, the most confusing one is Constitutional Amendment #1 which is about solar power and the media coverage has me so confused I don't have a clue whether the amendment that is on the ballot is good or bad. Any advise is welcome!
Look forward to being and staying active. I am going to put this same info in the Florida section and hope to get help with some answers. Thanks.

(224 posts)Your materials helped. Finally was able to make some sense about what I have been reading about the solar amendment. It is downright scary how misleading utilities can be!

when I saw the list of opponents i couldn't believe it. The way it is worded it seems like it should be supported.

(12 posts)I'm with what I've seen on the Democrats of Alachua County fb page. I'm voting yes on all but 1.
