Police: Teen poses as cop, arrests friend in order to steal from Walmart
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. A teenager accused of posing as a police officer staged the arrest of his friend at a Port St. Lucie Walmart so they could steal from the store without getting caught, police said.
The 17-year-old was arrested Labor Day on charges of shoplifting, impersonating a police officer and resisting arrest without violence.
EXCLUSIVE UPDATE: Teen tells WPBF he's stupid
The teen said he has nobody to blame but himself.
"I mean, everybody's stupid, just not like this," the boy told WPBF 25 News in an exclusive interview.
Port St. Lucie police said the teen entered the Walmart and asked an employee to "make a page for him." He then quickly opened and closed his wallet, flashing a badge, and placed a 14-year-old shoplifting suspect in handcuffs.
