Kissimmee police officer dies, one gravely wounded; Jacksonville officers shot
KISSIMMEE — A Kissimmee police officer died and a second was gravely wounded Friday night, police Chief Jeff O'Dell said.
Officer Matthew Baxter was killed and Sgt. Sam Howard was in grave condition, O'Dell said. Howard's prognosis "does not look good,'' O'Dell said in a briefing.
The officers were shot answering a call, and the shootings appeared to be an ambush, the chief said.
Two suspects were in custody, and a third was being sought, O'Dell said.
