Who remembers the old Progress Energy company and their energy cost saving program where

they took your allotted power during peak usage hours and passed on savings in return?
This was in the nineties when we moved in and tried their program, allowing them to wire our house. It lasted until the first major freeze and our house was left as cold as an icebox. I had small children in the house at the time so I put a stop to the program. To my knowledge, they came by the house to unhook the wiring.
Well, last night our heater just stopped operating. The aircondition serviceman who came by said it was the progress energy wiring. Must have caused a short.
This is weird, since I wasn't aware that our aircondition was still running with their wiring. But, I thought I would run it past everyone because it was an interruption in service that wasn't needed.
