Any Chicago residents over 75 having a hard time getting their Covid shots?

Our friends in Georgia are getting their 2nd ones next week and we don't even have our first ones or on a list to get them.

I checked all the online sites and they all say they don't have any vaccine. I hear the same thing on local radio talk shows. People are speculating they will have to wait for months to do so - people over 65.

The 4 of u (us and our friends in Ga) are all 77 and have underlying health conditions.

3. my mom, here in Illinois

went to her doctor and he said their clinic automatically put them on a list and will be contacting her when they have enough vaccine. I think its northwest medicine.

4. Yes, Northwestern Memorial hospital

will be giving vaccines to its patients. I received an email Monday that I would be automatically contacted to schedule a vaccination appointment at some point. Affiliated doctors’ offices won’t be giving them: NWM will be setting up a separate clinic .

I’m not expecting that to happen very soon, however. I’m planning to also register with Walgreens, in case that can happen sooner. Whichever comes first, I’ll take it. But not holding my breath! With more than 650,000 individuals in this category, and right now only 34,000 doses available each week, I’ll be surprised if it isn’t until mid March or even April.

5. Thanks. I was just a patient at NWMH when I broke my wrist 2 months ago.

I hope they send me a notice so far I haven't received one. Hmmmm
Something else to worry about.

My husband has already got his first one.

He was one of the lucky people that won a shot in a lottery by the University of Chicago. He said it was so well organized he was in and out in around half an hour.

Luckily for him, right after he got his shot they announced they had run out of vaccine and everyone else had to go home with none and be re-scheduled for tomorrow.
Bummer for them.

9. My mom is scheduled for this Thursday. She just turned 85 so I am very relieved.

I’m glad for her and glad to see that the system is operative. It’s kind of hard to know what’s even happening.

She has 15 years on me, so I’m glad she’s getting her’s first. I wonder if they’re doing it by age? I was hoping my husband could get his soon, since he is a survivor of a serious cancer. On the other hand, he is lucky to be able to work from home, so we are being patient.

My clinic said the same thing. My husband and I are on a list.

I am going to register on the Ogle County Health Department website as well, just to be on the safe side. One of my friends, who is in her eighties, just got her first shot. She said that the whole thing was organized and efficient. There was no line.

As of January 25, people 65 and over were eligible, but no pharmacy, hospital, or govt. agency contacted claims to have the vaccine, nor do they have information as to WHEN they will have it.

I'm on the My Chart of Northwestern and Illinois Masonic..so far crickets.

I looked on Northwestern's website today and they said they will be notifying 1B people this week so I guess I will wait for them.

14. Now its Friday and I'm still waiting.

We are in the bottom 10 according the NYT today in terms of Covid vaccinations.
What did we do wrong?

Just not enough vaccine and given ZERO cohesive plan from the "administration" of his orangeness, states are playing catch-up. Plus IL, among other states, now have winter weather not helping the situation.

15. I'm in DuPage County

And classified as 1c (age 60 with several underlying conditions, starting with type 2 diabetes) and I’m being told that the earliest I can expect to receive my first shot is May 2021. I sure hope I can dodge the various developing variants that long.
