RW politicization of IL elimination of cash bail

It’s been viral on social media this week—IL will let dangerous criminals roam free in 2023.

The truth: unconvicted individuals are being detained, without trial, for as long as a decade because they don’t have money for cash bail. Some are even murdered awaiting trial.

Under the new law, prosecutors can detain individuals — but not just because they don’t have bail money.

The political firestorm is the product of those profiting off the detainment for bail system imho.

The article explains it.

I've seen some infuriating anti-Pritzker ads on TV, about how he supposedly wants to let ALL the violent offenders out of jail and "bring Chicago violence to YOUR town!" (paraphrasing)

It's such a complete load of crap, and it infuriates me because I know there are people who will swallow it, hook, line, and sinker.

This election is getting ugly.

Total out and out lies all over the TV. Of course the bill failed.

Pritzker is doing a great job for us. We need to keep him in office.

to F&F but the disinformation won.

Worse tho was the actual ballot referendum language. It was really confusing even to me.

I hope we do better to guard the narrative that goes on the ballot in the future because that was awful.

We need to be more careful. And we need to get the info out to the voters. Do it by mail, over the TV and whatever else works. Precinct leaders can go door to door, too.
