South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg meets with Barack Obama to talk politics
South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg met with former President Barack Obama to reportedly discuss the future of the Democratic party and 2020 presidential campaigns.
CNN reported Monday that Obama has met with several Democrats, offering advice on running in the political era of Donald Trump and discussing how to position the party going forward.
Mark Bode, a spokesman for the mayor, confirmed in an email that Buttigieg met with Obama last fall.
“The mayor has met President Obama a number of times, most recently for an informal, private conversation last fall,” Bode wrote in an email. “The mayor has appreciated President Obama’s interest in the South Bend region both during and since his presidency.”
