Iowa
Related: About this forumHave you seen Joni Ernst's new ad, "Shoot"?
I just saw it and went immediately to her FB page to let her know that this offensive piece was not acceptable. It just isn't. I won't post the ad here to give her bandwidth. It does involve her pointing a gun a lot, talking tough Teabagger talk, and there is an implication that she wants to go to DC to take the President out. Yuk. Yuk. Yuk. It is a despicable ad and deserves some pushback.

(43,049 posts)with guns, she'd have something.
But, complaining on her FB page likely won't have the effect that coming in last in the primary would. An embarrassing loss might signal the others that this sort of thing is in really bad taste.

(40,209 posts)This type of ad is like any television commercial trying to sell a product. Riding up on a motorcycle, shooting a gun its all Madison Avenue bullshit. She comes off like a typical republican female politician trying to act like John Wayne. The sad thing is that I just saw the first lawn sign for her in my neighborhood. Ugh.

(37,364 posts)Sure it is an ad, but all advertising, regardless of product, shapes expectations and reinforces attitudes. This is why the Teabaggers have gotten so much traction. They have only recently started receiving push back. I refuse to let Iowa become part of Teabagger nation. We are better than this.

(711 posts)To me, it appears that they're showing the target from the backside, or possibly those aren't even bullet holes. Talk about truth in advertising!!
One other thing about her ads, and ALL the Republican ads, is the way they talk about "good conservative sense" here in Iowa. Iowa and "conservative" in the same sentence?? That's not the state that I've grown up in!! From what I've seen in my life, and learned about our history, Iowa has always (until recently) been pretty darned progressive. We don't need her, and her ilk changing that!!
What we all do need to do, is help GOTV this fall, and get a good Democrat representing the 3rd district, and Bruce Braley taking Harkin's Senate seat!!
