Vote 2014: Rep. Braley May Challenge Gov. Branstad

I was hoping he would run for Grassley's senate seat. I wouldn't mind him as governor, though.

DES MOINES, Iowa - Rep. Bruce Braley may run for governor in 2014. Braley will be in Des Moines on Monday to hold a news conference on combating radon in schools.

But Braley's trip to the Capitol will happen at the same time as some news reports that he could be a challenger to Republican Gov. Terry Branstad.

KCCI-TV political analyst Dennis Goldford said that may not be a coincidence. "This isn't really early because the governor's race is in 2014. The party conventions are in June of 2014," Goldford said.

Braley isn't the only potential Democratic candidate. Former Gov. Chet Culver told a Cedar Rapids newspaper he's considering a run.

I think we've got a pretty good guy representing us here in the 1st District, and we are so fortunate to have Braley. While I think he'd be an excellent Governor or Senator I'm afraid that we'd get some teabagging scumbag taking his place here in the 1st district if he did run for either seat.

I wish he'd serve long enough to demonstrate why Democrats are better representatives for Iowa's interests...then the next Dem to run could build on that.

You've got a great Representative, but if the district were to take the risk of him potentially getting the Governor job- where, mind you, he could prove to be more beneficial for the 1st District- it may prove to pay off for all Iowans in the end.
