(130,895 posts)Its old, and not at all elegant, but the spot is SO NICE, and I'm told lots of great sunsets, so I'll have to get a camera and learn a thing or 2!!!

I'm retired so free most days. Maybe we can meet up some time, and help me find best route to Lusby! (Its around 60 miles, I think.)

(26,449 posts)I know you will enjoy it.
elleng
(130,895 posts)Yup, I expect to, tho its further from other people than I'm used to, not in time, but in distance. Will maintain a presence in Hagerstown (and Aspen Hill.)
LiberalEsto
(22,845 posts)best wishes for an easy move!
elleng
(130,895 posts)Not expecting 'easy,' as between now and then, have to 'organize' deceased (and separated) husband's DC apartment stuff, agree about who gets what with daughters (disagreements already apparent,) deal with estate matters etc, but such a lovely place, I think the setting will make it worthwhile. Hiring mover the easy part!
Will be near younger daughter, in Aquasco, which was reason for looking to begin with.
You are, of course, invited to visit!
shireen
(8,333 posts)would love to go birding in the area sometime.

(15,859 posts)I cant believe you can rent a place like that for $1200 a month. Thats the cost of my apartment! You must be so excited. Its GORGEOUS!
elleng
(130,895 posts)and the rent got me, too.
Its not perfect for many, I'm sure, as off unpaved road just past a cornfield, tho only 7 minutes from grocery and Starbucks, but only 1 bathroom, up a narrow stairway, definitely NOT 21st century style, but the location is LOVELY! The owner is very nice, and has a kitchen garden from which I can clip a few herbs, and maybe a tomato, soon, as owner leaving for vacation shortly so he won't be around to do so!

(15,859 posts)They definitely have their own character and charm. bunnies-mr. and I want to buy an old colonial from the 1800's or earlier. Preferably one that needs work. Many people think we're crazy for wanting to take that on but I just cant imagine being happy in a 'regular' house, ya know?
Youre new place is SO picturesque. And with that yard, the water, and a garden too! To good to pass up. Narrow hallway and all.
