(111,255 posts)and pay the fee to search through the newspaper morgue. If there was an obit, it would be on microfilm. You can also contact them where you are and pay a bigger fee, have them do the search for you.
I'm not sure about viewing the death certificate, which would have the cause of death on it. States all have different laws about that. The Clerk of Court could clarify it for you, but s/he is in Lansing, too.

In an attempt to make a connection I reached out to surviving family members (through an obituary for her parents) ... this obituary seems consistent with your friends family. Maybe you can find one of her siblings

I have been unable to pull it up online, except for registering and paying a fee.
Likely the Main Public Library in Lansing will have a copy of the Lansing Star-Journal for that day.
You could call or email them and request a copy of the obit be mailed or emailed to you.
If you are not near to Lansing, ask a member of the Michigan group on DU to do the legwork for you.
There is a genealogy group here on DU, whose members are quite familiar with obtaining obituaries; they may be able to help you out.
I have checked ancestry.com, of which I am a member, and do not see the obit. available there.

(5,166 posts)I believe the first listing is not for Julie Cushion, as she could not have been married 50 years. It likely is for another listing on the same page of death notices.
Sometimes we find out information we'd rather not have known.
God rest her soul.
