by Stephen Henderson, Detroit Free Press:
Suckers.
Thats what recently booted state reps. Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat think of the voters they hoodwinked while in office.
It wasnt enough to swindle them once, to get elected and spend the time in office playing house and tilting at ideological windmills that, even if knocked down, wont improve life for people in central west Michigan or the Thumb.
It wasnt enough to drag the whole state through the sordid spectacle of a prolonged removal process that culminated in a clown-car-style all-night legislative marathon.
Now, they want more. Both have said they intend to file for the special elections that will be held to fill their seats.
Hubris isnt a strong enough word to describe their self-involved pretension. This borders on a disturbing megalomania, the kind of drive to be exalted and recognized that bends the idea of public service into crass public self-gratification. ..........(more)

(23,340 posts)... then they very well might get their seats back. No need to call them "suckers".
IIRC, it was Democrats who wanted to drag out the process, with a "more thorough" investigative process. In other words, politics as usual.
Democrats should not throw stones on an issue like this. Hubris and megalomania (and a little misbehavior) are not restricted to any one party.

(111,255 posts)because they voted them in the first time. Courser will likely get back in, boys will be boys. I doubt Gamrat will, it's all her fault for seducing a good man.
Yeah, that's how they think.

(85,373 posts)The legislature is much improved by their removal, it would be a crime if they were returned.
It's not as if there were no other people in the district!
