Sentencing continues Monday and Wednesday for several former Detroit Public School principals who have been convicted of stealing money from the district in a $2.7 million kickback and bribery scheme.
Stanley Johnson, former principal of Hutchinson Elementary from 2005-15, will be sentenced Monday morning before U.S. District Judge George Caram Steeh.
Johnson admitted to accepting $84,170.57 in kickbacks from ex-vendor Norman Shy, who was sentenced last week to five years in prison for orchestrating the scheme involving 13 DPS officials.
Johnson, 62, of Southfield, pleaded guilty May 4 to one count of conspiracy to commit federal program bribery, a five-year felony. Because Johnson cooperated with the government in their investigation into DPS and Shy, prosecutors are asking for a sentence between 24 and 30 months in prison.
