Manager accused of embezzling $538K from trucking company heads to trial

GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- A woman accused of embezzling more than $538,000 over three years from a Kentwood trucking company is expected to stand trial next month.

Mary Beth Knapp, 55, was scheduled to begin her trial this week in Kent County Circuit Court, but the case was adjourned. She is charged with three counts of embezzlement of $100,000 or more -- a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

As operations manager for D & M Logistics, Knapp was responsible for loading Comdata cards for drivers, who would use them at truck stops to purchase fuel.

Police said Knapp loaded the cards and brought them to local truck stops where she had them cashed weekly throughout 2014, 2015 and 2016, according to a police affidavit.
